What It's All About

Today, before I ran my million errands, I went to subway for lunch and got a sweet onion chicken teriyaki sandwich on wheat. As I waited for it to toast, the young lady who was building it asked me about what I do.

I told her that it took time for me to find what made my heart fly, but have since discovered that food is my world. Also that I have often found that we are afraid to admit what we want to do because we don't want to disappoint people like our parents/siblings/friends. Even more so, the fear of failure is so palpable that it completely renders us motionless.
Open-heartedly, she told me that it's a beautiful thing to see that I've chosen my own path, no matter the hardship. And she went on say that she has found that if we keep our heads down and focus only on ourselves, happiness will be inevitable. Because we will be living truly and wholly for ourselves and not for the satisfaction of others. As my heart filled with glee, I grew curious and inquired about her age. "18." She replied. Wow, I was floored by her sense of enlightenment and maturity. Happy, I celebrated her by telling what an impact she made on me, high fived her and proceeded to vlog and eat my sammy in my car.

That young woman, that conversation, that elation I felt in my chest, has reaffirmed that life is about people, moments, feelings of uncontrollable happiness and clarity. They are the stuff that life is made of. Good night, all.
